How to Hire a Magician
Finding a good one is not an easy task. It’s not like hiring a plumber; every performer is different.
1.
Specialization
You want a performer who specializes in your exact type of event. You do not want a general practitioner or someone who performs “for all ages and events.”
2.
Ask a lot of questions!
Is the show age-appropriate? Are there hidden fees? Do we need to supply anything? Can we take pictures and video? How many shows do you perform in a month?
3.
You Get What You Pay For
Like any other service, you get what you pay for. If a performer is only charging $150 for an appearance, there is a reason why.
4.
Get everything in writing
Demand a letter of confirmation or a contract. At least three times a month I get phone calls from people whose entertainers have canceled on them at the last minute. You do not want to be in this situation!
